Fashion influencer and entrepreneur Rozalia Russian sat down with WHO to talk all things style

Tell us a bit about Apparel by Rozalia. Apparel by Rozalia was a collection I was working on for quite some time and originally the pieces were focused around a more high-fashion wardrobe set to launch in March. Given the shift to working from home, I made the call early on to pivot the collection and bring consumers their must-have 2020 wardrobe filled with lounge wear, basics and key classic pieces such as our trench and classic coat.

How was it launching a clothing line during COVID-19?

Of course, there were concerns about launching a collection during a global pandemic and looming recession, however I was absolutely blown away and incredibly humbled when the whole collection sold out

within 20 minutes across 34 stockists. It was also very promising for us that leading retailers such as Myer and StyleRunner bought in heavily.

How have you been spending your time during lockdown?

Between homeschooling, designing this range, launching our digital content series, The Lady Bunch, assisting my husband with the build of his new bar, Bar Bambi, and supporting my long-term clients through a difficult time, there has not been a dull moment.

As a designer, how do you feel about the future of fashion?

There is no doubt consumer behaviour is ever changing so I think we will see less trend-focused pieces and a continuation on the shift to classic wardrobe pieces. This may mean designers are producing smaller collections and shifting to quality and classic styles.

What are your forecast trends for Spring/ Summer?

Similar to the above, I feel we are moving away from ‘trends’ and this effortless way of dress will continue into the Spring/Summer seasons. My prediction is that we will see less prints and the tonal way of dressing will continue to grow in the coming months. What are your three Apparel by Rozalia essentials?

1. The trench launching in ‘drop 3’ is an absolute must.

2.The tank is a great basic as it can be … dressed up or down.

3.Third would be the collared jumper which just looks and feels so luxe.
