WHY THE NEW ZEALAND ACTRESS LEFT HOME FOR A GLITZY NEW AUSTRALIAN DRAMA

-

Sara Wiseman is trying to look on the bright side of what has been a dark and difficult time for us all. The former A Place to Call Home actress was filming in Queensland when COVID-19 forced the world into lockdown, prompting her return home to New Zealand, where she lives with actor husband Craig Hall.

Eschewing any negativity, Wiseman and Hall instead relished the solitude and simple pleasures of being together. “Our lockdown experience was actually rejuvenating,” Wiseman says from the other side of the ditch.

“We are in the Coromandels, which is a beautiful spot and we reunited and worked on our house, ate well and I even wrote a script.

“No-one was working and there was nothing to miss out on. No FOMO! So, we just really focused on what was important. Looking at how dire things are in America, I think we need to take stock and think how fortunate most of us are.”

Wiseman is certainly fortunate she’s found herself with a starring role in Channel Seven’s latest drama, Between Two Worlds, created by Bevan Lee, responsible for the muchloved Australian shows Packed to the Rafters and APTCH.

It was while Wiseman was still working on the show that Lee “generously” approached her about a role in Between Two Worlds.

The classy drama sees Wiseman playing a suburban mum named Sophia Grey, whose life is turned upside down when a tragedy brings her into the orbit of the filthy rich Walford family. “We find out that her world, which she thought was so beautifully put together, was just a bunch of twigs,” Wiseman reveals.

“We’ve all got secrets and we all put on our public face.”

Filming wrapped on this series last year. While Wiseman will return to screens in this new series, she says she still receives messages from fans of the Foxtel drama, A Place To Call Home. “There is always an outpouring of love for it from fans,” Wiseman says proudly.
