‘WE DON’T BUTT HEADS’
Kylie and Kendall Jenner spill
Their older sisters are well-known for their fiery fights and physical clashes on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, but Kylie Jenner insists there’s none of that sibling rivalry between her and sister Kendall. Well, at least not these days. “When we lived together at my mum’s it was a huge problem,” the 22-year-old admits to WHO of their teenage fights. “Anytime we would get into a fight, the mean thing that we would do to each other would be to go into each other’s closets and rip everything off the hangers, everything out of the drawers and throw them on the floor. It was like our revenge. But not anymore.”
Over the last few years, the pair have often found themselves on opposite sides of the country – and sometimes the globe! So when the opportunity came up to collaborate again for their Kendall + Kylie range they jumped at it.
Kendall, 24, has previously revealed she loves working with her sister. “It’s actually really nice because we used to work together a lot and now we don’t as much, so we never really butt heads, it’s awesome.
“We parted ways to do other things so this is a nice thing that brings us back together,” she said of working on their clothing line. “I don’t get to see her that often anymore.”
Here, the Jenner sisters talk beauty, style and who really rules the roost in their relationship …
What is it about makeup that inspires you? KYLIE Makeup makes me feel more confident. I feel like I can transform into whatever mood I am feeling. Makeup is definitely like an art form to me. Being able to just express myself and be creative is so much fun but it’s also challenging.
What is your favourite part of doing your makeup?
KYLIE My favourite part about doing my makeup is that it is like a therapeutic moment for me. I will turn my music on.
If I am getting ready at night I will have a glass of wine, or I will have my coffee if
I am doing it in the morning.
What is your one makeup must-have? KYLIE One product I cannot live without is definitely lipstick. I am obsessed with lipstick. I don’t know what I would do without it but I don’t stick with one product. I’m always exploring.
KENDALL I like having gloss lips rather than just matte. If I don’t have gloss, I just use ChapStick or something.
What is one area you perhaps have to concentrate on more than others? KYLIE My brows. Making my brows look at least decent on an everyday basis is very important. Ariel, my makeup artist, really instilled in me that brows frame your face. It’s just so important to have bomb brows! KENDALL I usually pluck my brows. Sometimes I wax, but only underneath. When I was 14, I thought having thin eyebrows was a really cool thing. I literally plucked them all off. My sisters yelled at me and threw out all of the tweezers in the house. I’ve never touched them myself since.
What’s your simple beauty tips or tricks? KENDALL Don’t put too much foundation on. I hate when I have cakey makeup on. I think skin is half the battle when it comes to doing makeup, which maybe relates to me having skin issues occasionally. If your skin isn’t on point then it doesn’t really matter what you do, so good skin is important.
KYLIE I try to do a face mask a few times a week, whether it’s a sheet or a leave-on treatment. I also always wash my face before I go to sleep – that’s a rule that never changes. KENDALL Yeah, I always wash my face in the morning and at night. I have an obsession with keeping my face clean and feeling clean. I use ProactivMD which is basically a face wash, then a moisturiser with some SPF in it. Kendall, how would you sum up your sister’s style? KENDALL I would say she is edgy, cool and she loves to take a risk. It’s also really cool because I feel like our styles are kind of different, but our tastes are very similar. How would you say your brand has changed since you started out?
KYLIE We’re definitely evolving and getting better and better.
KENDALL Every season and with everything we do, the brand becomes more mature and it grows with us.
Who has the most influence overall? KYLIE There is input from both of us and that is what we love, because both of our opinions are in the line. I feel like a lot of people love my style, and some people only love Kendall’s style, so it’s cool that we have both of our opinions.
Where do you get your inspiration from? KYLIE Before it was very based on the California girl because that is where we are from. Now it’s really just about my personality and how I am feeling creatively. I’m always changing my mind. It’s like, one week I’ll be into blue hair and then the next, I’m blonde. KENDALL Yeah, the inspiration is us and very much what we love to do and wear.
Have your experiences in the industry changed the way that you develop your designs and products?
KENDALL Definitely. I have gotten to see a different side of it through having an opportunity to be surrounded by creative people. I get to see how they work and that

is something that I can look forward to.
Who has the bigger closet?
KYLIE I think we actually both have the same amount of stuff.
KENDALL Yeah, I think we have pretty much the same amount of stuff, but it depends on the house, I guess.
When it comes to being the boss and decision making, who is more demanding? KENDALL Me!
What has been the biggest lesson you have learnt about your industry so far? KENDALL There are so many people involved, so you learn from everyone around you all the time. The most important thing you learn is how to treat people and how to be around people, stuff like that. I think that is a really good lesson.
As a style icon, what is your advice for budding fashionistas?
KYLIE Take risks, be unique, be different. KENDALL Love what you love and be comfortable in it.
Finally, who is the biggest fashionista in your family?
KYLIE North!
