HIS AND HERS

Australia’s cult-fave online store The Iconic and homegrown designer By Johnny are the latest duo to launch a loungewear collaboration. This exclusive athleisure-lounge capsule is not only unisex, but produced using leftover fabrics from past collections – making it as sustainable as it is chic! WHO spoke to By Johnny ‘s founder and designer, Johnny Schembri, about this new direction.

What inspired you to create this collection?

“Over the past few months, we’ve dived into our archives and revisited leftover fabric treasures, as well as utilising relevant end-of-line fabrications to create newness. This new versatile focus, combined with the approach of ‘using what we have’, inspired the new By Johnny Athletic Loungewear Collection.“

Has a unisex line always been on the cards for you? “Dressing the boys has always been something that I wanted to do. From the beginning, The Iconic weren’t shy about trying new things with us, and we‘ve previously talked about doing a project like this together. Knowing that they have a great unisex offering gave us confidence that this was a great opportunity.”

SPRING MUSES

Copenhagen Fashion Week was still in full swing this year, but with a few COVID-friendly changes, such as smaller crowds and face masks. So, if you’re looking for some spring fashion inspo, look no further! This season the fash pack were refreshingly relaxed. There was no sign of “It” designer bags, top-to-toe brand looks and, in fact, singular trends weren’t really a thing. Instead, there was a larger focus on personal style and “relatable fashion”. Local style mavens wore thongs, floaty dresses, camp shirts and bermuda shorts, all paired with understated accessories, much like our style Down Under. So when it comes to throwing together an outfit this spring, simply wear what makes you, YOU!

#CLICKBAIT

Midriff flossing – it’s the trend on everyone’s hips (quite literally!) and there are a few famous faces that can’t get enough, including Hailey Bieber, Sofia Richie and Candice Swanepoel. These “tie me up”-style dresses, specifically the disconnect shirt dress (left) by Aussie designer Christopher Esber, are selling out fast – and when they look as smoking as they do, we know why! We can’t wait to wrap one of these around our bods come the warmer weather.

EVERYBODY’S ROCKING: YELLOW-TINTED LENSES

Forget looking at the world through rose-coloured glasses, it’s all about this sunny hue right now. With celeb fans like Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa, these warm-toned shades will make you feel like you’re on a tropical holiday from the moment you put them on.
