TINSELTOWN’S BABY BOOM

FROM CO-STARS TO SPOUSES, THE LOWKEY PAIR ARE READY FOR THEIR NEW ROLE

They fell in love in front of the world on one of the most talked about shows of the past decade, and now Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are preparing for a new role of a lifetime: parenthood. Leslie debuted her growing baby bump in an issue of UK’s Make magazine. Soon after the news broke, the super-private couple were snapped walking their pet whippet around London, with Leslie – wearing chic Gucci sneakers – sporting a slight baby bump under her fluffy yellow jumper.

Though they rarely speak about their romance, at the 2018 Emmys, Harington, 33, gushed about how his role as Jon Snow led him to Leslie, who was cast as his love interest Ygritte in 2012. “I met my wife in this show. In that way, it gave me my future family and my life from here on in,” he said. “That’s the main thing it did for me, and it’s changed it completely.”

The couple were engaged in September 2017, confirming the happy news through a classified advert in The Times, and married in June 2018 in a star-studded wedding attended by many of their GoT castmates in Scotland.

Since then, they’ve endured their share of ups and downs. Five months after their nuptials, Harington was forced to shoot down rumours he had cheated on his new wife with a Russian model after she claimed she’d met Harington in Luxembourg.

And ahead of the Game of Thrones finale in May 2019, Harington checked himself into a Connecticut health retreat to cope with stress and exhaustion brought on from wrapping his decade of work on the series. “The last season of Thrones seemed to be designed to break us. Everyone was broken at the end,” he told GQ Australia months before the finale aired. “I don’t know if we were crying because we were sad it was ending or if we were crying because it was so f--king tiring. We were sleep-deprived.”

With some sleepless nights no doubt ahead, Hartington has managed to carve out an idyllic life with Leslie, 33, away from the spotlight. The couple has been seeing out the pandemic together in a Tudor manor in East Anglia. “What a glorious thing to be able to run to the countryside and recoup,” Leslie told Make. “It’s so peaceful.”
