Tips and tricks to help you navigate the allure of January sales

- ALESSANDRA AMBROSIO

WHERE DO YOU START?

If you’re on a click frenzy, there are a few tricks to avoid scroll fatigue. Justin Seskin, CEO of The DOM, Australia’s latest online outlet, explains, “There is treasure to be found on sale. You just need to know where and how to find it. Firstly, filter by size – and only look at the products that are available to you. Secondly, shop by an edit to get a more curated and relevant assortment for you”. In addition, “Filter out colours or styles you don’t like as it surprisingly saves a lot of scrolling,” shares

WHY TRY ONLINE OUTLETS?

If you’re not into crowds, an online outlet could be your vibe. Search, scroll and save from anywhere, anytime. In a recent Australian-wide survey of gen Z and millennials, most described their outlet experience as “cluttered”, “chaotic”, “messy” and “stressful”, says Seskin. Online outlets like The DOM are like a one-stop shop from the comfort of home, with 180-plus leading fashion and lifestyle brands that are always on sale.

WHAT ABOUT IN STORE?

In-store can be overwhelming but is sometimes more successful as you can always try on your prospective purchases while you’re there. “I recommend grabbing anything you love and make a pile in the change room to try. Alternatively, if the store has a good returns policy and you have the means, purchase all the items you love and try on at home. That way you can see if you already have something similar in your wardrobe,” says Bruce.

TIP:

When shopping a sale online at The Iconic, stop before you “add to cart” as you could be making money back after you’ve worn and loved it. In partnership with AirRobe, the e-tailer now offers a function on their site where you can elect to have the opportunity to resell, rent or recycle later, just by clicking a button. This is stored in your AirRobe account for later if you decide to resell, rent, or become involved in circular fashion and recycle through them. Simple!
