SHANNON, MIA AND ERANA SPILL ON A SEXY SEASON
After a two-year hiatus, The Wilds is back – hooray – and things are certainly heating up on the deserted island for the stranded teens. WHO caught up with three of the show’s stars ahead of the long-awaited premiere. Aussies Shannon Berry (Dot) and Mia Healey (Shelby) and their Kiwi co-star Erana James (Toni) dish on their on-screen chemistry and the drama’s hot new additions, who nd themselves stranded as part of a psychological social experiment.
Mia and Erana, your characters bring romance to the deserted island. What can we expect from Shelby and Toni this season?
HEALEY It’s de nitely di erent to Season 1, and it’s de nitely the happiest we’ve ever seen Shelby, and this is the closest to heaven she’s ever felt.
JAMES We see a lot of joyful moments. Toni is really calm and she’s found a lot of peace.
Can Toni and Shelby survive without each other on the island?
HEALEY I think they can, I just don’t think they want to survive without each other.
JAMES They’d rather not!
You guys have a fabulous relationship o -camera, too. Can you tell us about that?
JAMES It’s pretty freaking fabulous.
HEALEY Freaking fabulous. What are the chances that we’d have this amazing friendship immediately? It’s like we’re soulmates. It’s crazy that this brought us together, and we found this even before we knew our characters were going to end up together.
JAMES Mia is like, my biggest supporter. I have so much respect for her and she has so much respect for me. She’s my biggest support system o -screen, too, so I feel very lucky.
HEALEY Oh stop it.
Shannon’s here, too! How would you go being thrown into the elements and told to survive? BERRY I wouldn’t go! I think I’d get a bit too cocky [laughs]. I can imagine walking into some kind of trap, or o a cli by accident.
Of the other characters, who could you live with on a deserted island?
BERRY Sophia [Ali] and I get along so well in real life, just like our characters do on screen.
And we hear there are some new additions to Season 2 …
JAMES We’re welcoming a cast of young men, which fans should be looking forward to.
Can Shelby and Toni’s relationship survive a group of guys?
HEALEY I think we can survive anything!
