THIS COLLECTION OF LOVE LETTERS WILL HAVE YOUR HEART RACING AND BREAKING

-

Aussie actor Samuel Johnson, who lost his beloved sister Connie to cancer, has curated the beautiful book Dear Lover

– a collection of love letters from some of Australia’s well-known personalities. It’s the fourth in the Dear series and will raise money for cancer research. In this exclusive extract, Golden Guitar-winning singer-songwriter Sara Storer shares the note she penned to her husband, David O’Hare, with whom she shares four kids.

Do you ever wonder sometimes about … why you and why me? How a little boy growing up in the hustle and bustle of inner Sydney would someday cross paths with a little girl from a farm in The Mallee, Vic. Was it fate or in the stars, or did the angels help … were we meant to be all along? I can hear you now saying, “That’s the storyteller you” … but I often wonder about this and whether there were angels giving us a little shove in the right direction. When I hear of great loves coming to an end, I think could this ever be us? Here, right now, I say we are forever and I can’t see it any other way. To think of losing you, for whatever reason, ignites the start of heartache, so let’s change the subject. What I love about you most is the way you treat me and our boys. We always feel so safe and top priority.

I love that you mow the lawns (so I don’t have to) and x things I cannot. I love that you always encourage me to sing even when I start to doubt myself. When I stop singing my leaves start to wilt. Your encouragement is like throwing blood and bone on me. You know deep down it makes me happy … simple … black and white. Just so you know, I never get tired of seeing you every day. I never get tired of having my rst co ee with you in the morning or a red wine at night. Most of all … I never tire watching you love and raise our boys. Crossing paths or stars aligning, or angels’ help … I met my ‘one of a kind’. (Out now)
