SAM CORLETT

THE AUSSIE ACTOR IS PAVING HIS OWN PATH

-

Don’t be fooled by that gorgeous face, Sam Corlett is truly a man of substance. Speaking to WHO from his mum’s house on NSW’s Central Coast, the Aussie actor is wise beyond his years – much like his character Leif Erikson, the famous explorer, in Vikings: Valhalla. Despite Season 2 of the show hitting our screens earlier this month, with a third also currently in the works, the 26-year-old is still stunned over his leading role in the Netflix series. “It’s pretty wild,” he admits. “There’s definitely been pinchyourself moments that I just couldn’t believe – these are things I used to dream about.”

Straight from the set of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in Canada, Corlett headed to Iceland to film the first two seasons of Vikings: Valhalla. And it seems despite not having had much time to stop and take stock of his new reality, the actor is already looking towards the future.

“I’m working on developing stuff as a producer. I really want to get on the other side of things,” Corlett tells WHO. “I have the same management in the States as Margot Robbie. She’s definitely a huge inspiration in terms of what she’s established and the stories that she tells, not just as an actor, but as a producer.”

Brad Pitt is also another Hollywood heavyweight that the Aussie actor looks up to. “[His production company] Plan B paved the way for the access and storytelling of stories that he sought to be told, but couldn’t be part of,” Corlett continues. “Whether it be Moonlight or 12 Years a Slave, he’s been able to tell some really groovy stories.”

Off to Perth to film a new feature film alongside Leila George and Greta Scacchi,

He Ain’t Heavy, which he shares will “shine a light on an area of society that’s often in the shadows”, Corlett is certainly one to watch. “It’s been an incredible journey so far,” he adds.
