“I am in awe of Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas,” says the uni student. “The mastery of Finneas’ production and songwritin­g combined with Billie’s unique and highly refined vocals is a level of artistry that I am very inspired by, and strive to achieve in my own performanc­es.”

ANGELA, 15, WA

“My goal is to earn a full-time income from my music,” explains the high school student. “So I signed up to Australian Idol because the exposure and success I might gain from being on Australian Idol will help to start me on the road to my goal.”

“Long before I even started singing, Adele has been an inspiratio­n to me and gave me the desire to sing,” the student says of her own idol. “Her wonderful songs and powerful voice have always uplifted and influenced me. I love how humble and down to earth she is. I have always looked up to Adele.”

ROYSTON, 23, QLD

“I was extremely nervous for my audition,” the uni student shares. “I kept thinking about this one time where I did an audition for something else and I got fully choked up. So I was extremely nervous thinking if the same was going to happen at the Australian Idol audition.”

“I am a huge Matt Corby fan!” tells the surfer. “I was obsessed with his music as a teenager and listened to his records endlessly. I love his songwritin­g and Gospel-influenced singing style, which definitely influenced my music, too. I hope to follow his path and become a similar artist in my own career.”

“Music is such an integral part of my identity,” explains the school student of why she decided to take the leap and audition for the reboot of the reality show. “And Australian Idol offers an amazing opportunit­y to showcase who I am as an artist.”
