DYLAN’S FAMILY PLAN

-

For Dylan Alcott, kids have always been on his life agenda. “I wants twins,” the three-time Paralympian gold medallist and celebrated tennis icon exclaims on reality show, Big Miracles. While his partner of four years, Chantelle Otten, isn’t so keen on the thought of double trouble, she admits that she’d love to start a family with her long-time beau. “I can picture having kids with Dyl,” she tells. “It’s something that we talk about all the time.”

However, with both having busy careers – Alcott as a motivational speaker and radio host, and Otten as a sexologist – the pair, both 32, have turned to egg freezing in order to keep their family planning options open. “We’re like, ‘In two years we’ll have kids,’” Otten explains on the show. “We kept pushing it back because we were having so much fun and our careers are so busy.”

The couple made their recent debut on the show, which follows brave Australian couples as they navigate the raw and emotional road of trying to fall pregnant against overwhelming odds through fertility treatments. And while Alcott and Otten only play a small part in the show, opening up about their journey to parenthood will no doubt do wonders for breaking down taboos and stigmas around disability – for which Alcott is an advocate.

As a sexologist, Otten has also worked alongside her partner to open up the conversation around sex and intimacy as an interabled couple. “I’m proud of the work that she does, and she supports me in the disability space,” Alcott previously told Body+Soul.
