Nicole’s new heartache With Keith caught up on a pretty blonde, onde, the actress is fearing earing for her marriageage
Nicole Kidman’s life is in turmoil, amid reports the woman she’s always feared could steal her husband away is single once more.
Nashville-based country music star Carrie Underwood hasn’t been seen with her husband of seven years, Mike Fisher, since August 2016, and speculation is rife that she and the ice-hockey star – who share two-year-old son Isaiah – have parted ways.
Now, in what can only be described as Nicole’s worst nightmare, her husband Keith Urban appears to be getting closer than ever to long-time friend Carrie, 34, with whom he’s always shared incredible chemistry on and off stage.
Keith’s close bond with Carrie, was on show for all to see at the CMA Awards earlier this month, when the pair – who are arguably Nashville’s biggest stars – took to the stage together in what some audience members described as an electric performance.
Keith and Carrie did nothing to hide their affection, getting up close and personal as they belted out their new single The Fighter.
The emotionally charged performance follows months of shows together, as Carrie supported Keith on tour in Australia and New Zealand late last year, during which time Nicole, 49, was often at home in Nashville with the couple’s daughters Sunday, eight, and six-year-old Faith.
While Carrie’s husband Mike was absent on the night of the awards – only adding fuel to speculation the pair have split – Nic was forced to sit in the audience as her husband performed alongside the pretty, younger blonde.
And while Nicole posed up alongside Keith, 49, albeit without the usual red carpet affection the couple are renowned for, she clearly wasn’t keen to keep up appearances when she and Carrie were left alone together in the crowd.
“Keith was like a lovestruck schoolboy next to Carrie,” dishes a source. “There’s a real spark between them. After all these years, Nic knows her husband very well – and she knows Keith likes Carrie a lot.
“They’ve become very close these past few
months. He talks about her all the time. Even when he’s at home with Nic and the kids he’ll text and call Carrie often.
“When Carrie and Mike are together, it seems like they fight a lot,” our source says of Carrie’s troubled marriage. “And that’s freaking Nic out because she is having nightmares Carrie might be finding comfort with Keith.
“She worries he might be caught up in all her marriage troubles. After all, they’ve been spending a lot of time together.”
Keith’s obvious affection for Carrie has Nicole terrified her own marriage, which has been no easy ride, might finally be done for. Since The Fighter and its flirty video was released, Keith has gushed all about his fondness for former American Idol winner Carrie in interviews, and he regularly praises her on Instagram.
“I love singing with her,” Keith says. “I love the way her voice sits with where I sing and this song,” he adds. “When we [Keith and co-writer Busbee] wrote it, we just said, ‘It’s Carrie. She’s got too be the girl for sure.’”
Nicole’s anxiety may be partly fuelled by a fear of history repeating. In 2014 her marriage came under pressure when footage of Keith whispering in fellow American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez’s ear emerged.
It was taken while the singers were on promotional duty for Idol, but it showed a level of intimacy that suggested they were not strictly talking business. Adding insult to injury, Keith waxed lyrical to Nicole about the “beautiful, talented and charismatic” thrice-married star.
The flirtation with Jennifer caused a deep rupture between Nicole and Keith that took months to work through, and was only amplified by further alleged indiscretions on Keith’s part.
He was spotted entering his trailer with up-and-coming country star Kelsea Ballerini the following year. Nicole’s spokesperson dismissed cheating rumours at the time, but just weeks later, Keith was caught entering a San Francisco hotel room with another blonde.
Now, with Keith and Carrie’s friendship appearing to be something more, Nicole is fretting this is the final straw for her 11-year marriage.
“Nic is going through hell after all they’ve been through together,” our source says. “She’s worried sick that it’s Jennifer Lopez all over again.
“In Nic’s deepest darkest moments, she’s terrified Keith will walk out on her for someone like Carrie, especially as they’d become the hottest couple in country music.”
