Incredibly, these four generations of one family share the same birthday!
Our family is 1 in 17 billion
‘I can’t believe it’s possible for four generations to be born on May 3’
When it comes time to celebrate, it’s a real family affair for this happy nanna
Raylee Crompton smiles from ear to ear when she sits down to eat a slice of cake and open some presents on her birthday. The 67-year-old never has to worry about celebrating her special day alone – her daughter, granddaughter and great-grandson share the same birth date! “I can’t believe it’s possible for four generations to be born on May 3,” Raylee says. “It’s absolutely mind-blowing and incredible.” When Raylee gave birth to her eldest daughter Nykarla, now 41, a week later than expected and after 30 hours of gruelling labour, she says it was the best gift she’d ever received. “Being in labour for two days was really difficult, so to have her born on my birthday made it all worthwhile,” she says.
It came as yet another surprise when Raylee’s granddaughter Bella was born on the same day, albeit 24 years later.
“I was due to be born on May 8, but Mum was induced,” Bella, 17, says. “It was the obstetrician who chose May 3, due to his schedule.”
With the odds of four generations being born on the same day at 17 billion to one, it’s no wonder the tight-knit clan were in complete and utter disbelief when Raylee’s great-grandson Flynn was born 16 years later... on May 3.
The adorable youngster, now one, was due on April 29, but in what can only be described as fate, his mum Millie, another of Raylee’s granddaughters, went into labour on May 2, and gave birth the following day.
Counting themselves truly blessed to share their birthdays, Raylee and her family always make a point of celebrating together.
“Every year we spend the day or evening together at one of our houses,” Bella says. “We order pizza and Nanna cooks her famous lasagne, and we all dig in to some birthday cake. Everyone is happy and loves to celebrate as a family, and it’s always a lot of fun!”
