She also publicly insulted Elton’s husband David Furnish, 54, blaming him for her distance from her son.
Now she’s back in her famous son’s life, it’s thought Sheila, 92 – who once claimed Elton “hated” her – is keen to meet her grandsons Zachary, six, and Elijah, four.
“She’d love Elton to bring them over and has asked, but so far it hasn’t happened,” a source says.
