The Home And Away favourite and her ex engage in a very public spat
Shouting angrily and waving a handful of papers with clenched fists, Home And Away darling Ada Nicodemou and her ex-husband Chrys “Zippo” Xipolitas hit their lowest point yet last week in their epic break-up.
The ugly scene between the pair – who split 18 months ago – in a quiet street in Sydney’s south, had onlookers turning their heads in shock as the usually bubbly Ada appeared to be finally saying “enough!”
The heated exchange was on the three-time Gold Logie nominee’s 40th birthday, on May 14. It came straight after she’d been seen enjoying breakfast at a local restaurant with a girlfriend and four-year-old Johnas, Ada and Chrys’s only child.
When Chrys, 43, arrived, she walked outside to meet him.
“People arriving at the cafe made a point of walking around them, walking onto the road, because they didn’t want to get involved,” a source who was on the scene buying a morning coffee tells us.
The couple were seen battling it out for up to 10 minutes, pointing fingers and shouting, before Ada finally farewelled Johnas with a loving kiss and cuddle, and Chrys took him home.
“Ada looked really upset afterwards,” says our source. “Everyone there in the cafe really felt for her.
“It looked like she was enjoying her birthday up until that point. Hopefully she pulled herself together and managed to put the drama behind her.”
Officially divorced just eight weeks ago, Woman’s Day understands the tense public meltdown was the culmination of a toxic two-year battle over the couple’s assets.
“Chrys has Johnas every weekend from Sunday morning to Tuesday morning. He wants one more day per week. Ada is standing firm – neither are giving in,” a source close to the couple tells Woman’s Day.
“It’s a nightmare. They’re not in agreement with any of it,” the friend adds.
There was no sign of Ada’s rumoured new boyfriend, businessman Adam Rigby.
But according to friends, he made sure to shower his new love for her milestone birthday. Not only did he gift her with a seriously pricey Rolex watch, but he’s believed to be joining Ada and a gang of up to a dozen friends in the glitzy Italian resort town of Positano later this month for a belated birthday celebration.
Chrys, meanwhile, is still single after the couple’s split. “Chrys isn’t the slightest bit jealous,” a friend close to the actress tells Woman’s Day.
“All he cares about is seeing Johnas and getting a swift property settlement.
The one thing they can agree on is they don’t want this dragged through the courts, or worse the media, where all their dirty laundry could be aired.”
