Another wine – yes or no?

explanatio­n. When someone asks a question, surely they should be prepared for either yes or no. Even my husband was sick of someone thrusting a glass of champagne in front of us every time we boarded a ship or plane. What is being celebrated? The ship or plane is about to leave! I was offered whisky on my breakfast porridge in a large Glasgow hotel. I thought the chef was joking, but there was a sign giving details next to a bottle of Grant’s whisky. Wine O’clock? (issue 29,9, July 17, 2017) is the firstst time I have felt irritatedd enough to respond to a magazine article. Cominging to terms with alcohol problemsle­ms is surely more complex than detailing a lilist off nice,i iinoffensi­veffi ways to avoid the real problem of having a drinking problem and being unable to say no. I am not teetotal, I have the occasional drink. Sometimes I say yes and sometimes I say no and mean NO! I have just come back from an overseas holiday and watched air stewards and waitstaff try to coerce people into drinking alcohol. As usual, if I did not feel like drinking alcohol, I just replied, “No thanks”, without any
