Australian sweetheart and girl-next-door Kate Ritchie has shown the nation a new side of herself in the latest campaign for Aussie lingerie label Jockey – and she looks amazing.
But while the 38-year-old seems completely at ease in the pictures, the usually private star says it has taken her years to be comfortable enough to strip down for cameras.
“I’ve spent such a long time worrying about what everybody else thought and what I should
do and how things may be perceived,” Kate said, revealing that her two-year-old daughter Mae has helped boost her confidence. “A lot of it has to do with becoming a mother and realising none of that stuff really mattered so much. I actually feel incredibly confident and empowered. I wonder why I have worried for so long.” As a busy mum-of-one with a radio career, the former Home And Away star says the secret to keeping in shape is balance. “I shed a lot of my teenage puppy fat in my early twenties, and now I just focus on living a healthy lifestyle,” she says. “I’ve always had a healthy appetite, but I have to be careful with portion sizes. I eat healthily during the week and save treats for the weekend.” And while Kate admits she will never be a supermodel, she’s totally happy with what she’s got. “My husband, Stuart, loves me just the way I am. You should see the look of disbelief on his face when I criticise myself. He says, ‘Are you sure we’re talking about the same body here?’” she laughs. “Sometimes a compliment from the man in your life is all the confidence you need.”
