Nic, Leah & Elisabeth
Tensions have exploded between three actresses linked to Scientology
She’s done everything in her power to downplay her relationship with the shadowy Church of Scientology, but last week the star of The Handmaid’s Tale Elisabeth Moss couldn’t hide from it any longer.
Elisabeth was caught in the crossfire as former Scientologist Leah Remini sensationally claimed the Mad Men actress has blacklisted her since Leah quit the church.
“Elisabeth Moss believes that she can’t talk to me,” says Leah.
“There’s a thing in Scientology called ‘acceptable truth’. It means you only say what’s acceptable to the public.
“But she believes I’m an antisocial personality – because I’ve spoken out against Scientology. So she isn’t allowed to talk to me.”
Leah insisted she doesn’t hold a grudge against her former friend, but added that she thinks Elisabeth is “continuing to

support a group that is abusive and destroying families”.
Relations are reportedly so bad between Leah, 47, and Elisabeth, 35, that the latter walked out of the Television Critics Association Awards when Leah accepted the gong for Outstanding Achievement in Reality Programming for her series Leah Remini: Scientology And The Aftermath.
It’s certainly not the first time Elisabeth’s reputation has been tarnished because of her association with the controversial religion. Last year, during filming for her show Top Of The Lake: China Girl, reports surfaced that the actress and her co-star Nicole Kidman had a fiery face-off.
It was claimed Elisabeth was telling Nicole’s ex-husband Tom Cruise – a high-ranking Scientologist – what Nic, 50, had been up to on set.
“Things got very heated. Nicole told her to mind her own business,” a source said at the time.
To make matters worse, Elisabeth was said to be encouraging fellow cast and crew to consider converting.
“It makes Nicole crazy... The last thing she wants to hear is Elisabeth trying to recruit people to a religion Nicole feels is toxic.”
But it’s unlikely to have put Elisabeth – who was reportedly even being considered as a suitable next wife for Tom – off the church.
“Elisabeth is a devout member who was born into this religion and would never do anything to rock the boat,” a source has said.
“She’s a role model within the church and her ambition is to climb to OT-VIII [Operating Thetan Level 8] — one of the highest rankings in Scientology.”
