THE MAN MAKING TRACY SMILE

A Current Affair host Tracy finds happiness with a champion horse trainer

-

She’s one of our most loved TV stars, but when the cameras stop rolling Tracy Grimshaw shuns the limelight and fiercely guards her privacy, rarely speaking about her personal life except to recently confirm she’s single and still looking for love.

So you can imagine the surprise when she arrived at Hamilton Island last week with a dashing gentleman date, who she shared a lot of laughs with during a fun-filled two-night stay at one of the best resorts on the island.

The man in question is former champion dressage rider Roger Fitzhardinge, who has been one of Tracy’s closest friends for the past decade. They regularly spend time together, including attending the Grand Prix Freestyle in Sydney in April.

THEY’RE VERY CLOSE

The couple flew together in adjoining business class seats to Queensland for the opening weekend of Audi Hamilton Island Race Week and Tracy was the special guest at the Wild Oats Wines Ladies Lunch. She took Roger as her date.

Their appearance together sparked lots of speculation as Tracy and Roger seemed particularly

close with a relaxed and comfortable Tracy introducing him as her “friend” throughout the lavish weekend, which attracts celebrities from around the country. But sadly for fans, who were hoping Tracy had finally found love, they really are just the greatest of mates. “He’s a lovely man and they’ve become very close, but it’s a platonic relationship rather than a romantic one,” confirms another close friend. “He’s really good company and they share a great love of horses.

“They go riding together sometimes. He doesn’t live too far away from Tracy and they’ve attended some horse shows and equestrian events together from time to time. They’ve become particularly close over the past few years.”

Tracy, 57, says she has a blessed life, spending most of her spare time on her sevenhectare property on the fringe of Sydney’s north-western suburbs, where she shares her “paradise” with her two beloved horses and a couple of dogs.

THE RIGHT BLOKE

Tracy has always refused to answer questions about her love-life, but hasn’t ruled out falling in love and getting married, recently telling Australian Women’s Weekly “if the right bloke knocked on the door then it still might” [happen].

What she does have is a very loyal group of close friends, including Roger, and she often hosts barbecues and dinner parties at her rural hideaway, preferring to spend her downtime out of the limelight with those she loves.

One close friend says she leads an enviable life, and never seems too fussed about being single. “We’d all love everyone in our lives to fall in love and meet someone special, but let me tell you Tracy has an absolutely wonderful life and is really happy and content with what she has, and the people she has in her life now.”
