KICKED OFF THE BLOCK FOR CHEATING?
The atmosphere on site becomes toxic as everyone turns on copycat contestants Georgia and Ronnie Georgia claimed she’d figured out the winning formula...
After another explosive week on The Block, it’s fair to say the other contestants are sick and tired of Ronnie and Georgia’s ruthless behaviour to win points.
But the atmosphere on site will take an even nastier turn this week when the couple – who, with 10 renos already under their belt, consider themselves pros – are accused of repeatedly cheating to win at any means over the other less-experienced contestants.
In a not-to-miss episode, viewers will see Jason, 46, confront the competitive duo after he’s mysteriously sent a picture of a “professionally designed” child’s bedroom that bears a striking resemblance to Ronnie and Georgia’s “magical” creation from the previous week.
Not only does the bedroom – which appears on the Norsu Interiors Instagram page – include the exact same rose gold metal bed from Incy Interiors, but also Mrs Mighetto wall prints in the same position, a matching pink canopy with fairy lights and a stuffed animal placed in the middle of the bed.
Georgia, 33, goes on to deny any wrongdoing – saying all of the contestants draw inspiration from other places – but the copycat allegations turn everyone against the “cheats”.
According to show rules, contestants are banned from having the help of an interior designer – and Norsu Interiors proved they were the masterminds behind Ronnie and Georgia’s design by thanking the pair on Instagram and saying they were “so lucky” to have been involved.
It’s understandable, then, that Jason questions whether there’s a difference between consulting a designer, or referencing a picture of a designed room on the internet.
But the disgruntled plumber isn’t the only one who’s calling for a revision of the rules with fans now questioning whether Ronnie and Georgia should be kicked off the show altogether.
One infuriated viewer posted, “To copy it almost exactly is just getting money for someone else’s ideas, it’s a building and design show, you should be losing points for such plagiarism.”
“Not really inventive,” wrote another viewer of the show, while another called out for people to see the renovating duo for the “cheaters” they really are.
But in an attempt to save their reputation, Ronnie and Georgia outrageously insist they are the victims rather than villains – and claim it’s a clear case of bullying from the other contestants.
“It’s Tall Poppy Syndrome,” Ronnie tells Woman’s Day.
“It felt like we were ganged up on!” adds Georgia.
Whether producers will call for the rules to be revised or cave in to the backlash caused by the scandal remains to be seen.
But Georgia’s recent claim she’d figured out the winning formula must now leave a sour taste in everyone’s mouth.
No doubt viewers will be keeping a watchful eye over the ideas the pair have next.
