MAFS Nick says his love for Shaz turned to fear
Temper tantrums and jealous rages ended the reality star’s marriage
Their love story was romantic and involved matching tattoos and public declarations of love. But fast forward two months and the relationship between Married At First Sight’s Nick Furphy and Sharon Marsh is now toxic.
The Melbourne carpenter is accusing his ex of jealous rages, temper tantrums and throwing phones in anger.
““WeW foughtfo ht a lt lot over he her insecurities, but I was prepared to put up with her violent mood swings because I loved her,” says Nick, 30. “One time, she made me delete all of my female friends on Instagram because in her view, I had too many!”
“Controlling” Shaz was jealous of everyone, from Nick’s best friend Cassie to Sharon’s own twin sister Michelle, which kicked off when he added her on Snapchat.
But when he tried to confront her about her mood swings, “she’d crack it”. “Touchy subjects were taboo. She would either slam the door and run or go quiet,” he says.
One time, she even locked herself in his spare room, shaking, and in another angry outburst she threw a telephone.
“I was blownbl away,” ” says Nick,k who moved his “wife” into his Melbourne home after “dating on the quiet” for months.
“I was in love with Sharon within a day of meeting her. It made my world when she came over to live with me.”
But it quickly transpired their relationship was going nowhere. “It was the beginning of the end. There was no affection and I didn’t know what to do,” says Nick, adding he’d first caught sight of Sharon’s temper on their MAFS “honeymoon”.
Three weeks after giving up her Perth life and moving east, the stunning twin decided she wasn’t in love and no longer wanted to be married.
“I was absolutely gutted,” d,” saysy Nick, who then went alongng g with Sharon’s idea to release newsnew ws of their split in a magazine story.sto ry.
“Nick will be in my life forever,” she gushed in the he story, but it couldn’t havee been further from the truth. th. .
“Within a week of the story coming out, she’d unfriended, unfollowed and blocked me from all her social media accounts,” says Nick, branding the movee as “cruel and heartless”.
Now, the reality star – who is in the process of changing his “I love SHAZ” tattoo to read “I love SHIRAZ”! – says he’llll be surprised if they ever speak again. “I’m glad we didn’t continue now I’ve seen this side of her.” .”
