Woman’s Day (Australia)

Behind The Scenes

-

They Ththey play best friends Billie Carter and Layla Chapple in The Secret Daughter, and away from the camera Jessica Mauboy, 28, and Bonnie Sveen, 29, are just as close! The pair reveal their on-set secrets and tell Woman’s Day their plans for a musical collaboration.

Did either of you expect the first season to be so popular? Jess I didn’t know what to expect! I haven’t done a TV drama before, [just] support roles in feature films and Australian Idol in 2006. This world was so far removed from what I know. I’m so proud of what the whole cast and crew have achieved, and I couldn’t wait to work with this mob again! Do you help each other on set? Jess Bonnie doesn’t know she’s doing it but she does help me. She gives me advice with dialogue and direction, which is great. Bonnie I never want to be bossy, but there is no reason anyone should flflounder flounder. We both help each other out. It doesn’t matter what someone’s training or experience is – you just bring what works to set and we have a good time creating together. Do you have plans to collaborate on other projects in the future? Bonnie I would love to do something musically together! We have a similar taste in music – we both love soul and country. Jess Bonnie is already a director and I’d love to be a part of her world and learn from her. I would also love to do something musically – any opportunity to work together again!
