He’s now a devoted father to twins and hopelessly in love with his wife Amal. But before George Clooney became a global superstar, the actor was in a relationship with local girl Kathy Penno in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he lived while attending university.

Now, she’s spoken out for the first time, revealing how a 19-year-old George chased her for months before she eventually gave into his charm.

“He was experienced and a good kisser. It feels like a lifetime ago,” Kathy, who dated George for 18 months from 1980, exclusively tells Woman’s Day.

“He was younger than me but he wasn’t a virgin and dated a few other people before me. We would come down to the river and just spend hours talking.”

Although their romance eventually ended when George decided to leave town to make it big in Hollywood, Kathy says he was the one who asked her out – and he wouldn’t take no for an answer.

‘Our first kiss was in my light blue Mustang’

“He pursued me from the day I met him. He stuck to me like glue and kept calling,” the 60-yearold mother-of-one recalls.

“We were introduced by a friend who was starting a magazine and we did some modelling photos together, and that’s when he started to chat me up. He was very persistent.

“Our first kiss was in my light blue Mustang outside a club. George probably owes me money because I drove us everywhere!”

And while Kathy has nothing but fond memories of their time together, she has revealed George’s one flaw – he was very messy. “He was smart and presentable, but he wasn’t as neat or tidy at home,” she says. “I hated his dirty dishes!”
