But the rift between Karl Stefanovic and his estranged dad Alex Stefanovic, 71, is set to deepen following the shocking news Alex is writing a tell-all book, which will lift the lid on the family’s “darkest secrets”.
One of the most sensational chapters is devoted to the Stefanovic family’s “gambling curse”, which Alex alleges has afflicted six generations of his family – and cost him his marriage to Karl’s mother, Jenny.
Despite Karl having no history with gambling, Serbian-german Alex is determined to warn his son because he’d hate to see him make the same mistakes.
“To some it may sound far-fetched, but I assure you this curse is very real and could cost Karl everything if he’s not careful,” says Alex. “It’s no secret my son likes a bet on the horses. He has done so for years.”
The family’s gambling history isn’t the only secret Alex plans to reveal when he releases the book later this year. He promises to go into great detail about his relationships with his children Elisa, 46, a makeup artist, Karl, 43, Pete, 36, and their younger brother cameraman Tom, 32.
Alex has barely spoken to his sons in 25 years but got an invite to Pete and Sylvia Jeffreys’ April wedding.
But an insider warns the fallout from the book won’t be pretty. “It’s going to be brutal. Honest, but brutal,” the source says.
It’s likely to be the final nail in the coffin for Karl and his father. Alex has no interest in mending fences with his children, who’d made it clear there was no place in their lives for him, tells our source. e.
