Nick Kyrgios finds love
Aussie tennis star Nick Kyrgios has won his biggest match of all, convincing girlfriend Ajla Tomljanovic to give him a second chance
She’s the gorgeous young woman credited with helping Nick win back a legion of fans at the Australian Open last week as he opened his heart and spoke about how much she’s changed his life for the better.
“It’s when I’m with her that I am at my happiest,” reveals a smitten Nick, who is rumoured to be on the verge of proposing to Ajla, also a pro tennis player.
“It’s good to have her around,” the Aussie champ says.
And even Nick’s mum Norlaila has given the brunette beauty her tick of approval.
SHOW OF LOVE
With a huge smile plastered on his face, the fiery Canberraborn tennis champ showed off a softer side in Melbourne last week as he revelled in his rekindled love with Ajla – after he almost lost her last year.
The couple started dating in 2015 but broke up in July last year after Nick, 22, was photographed stumbling out of a nightclub in London’s Soho district with a pair of beautiful young women in the early hours of the morning.
Just hours later Ajla, 24, deactivated her social media accounts, later reactivating them after removing all the loved-up photographs of the couple. She also unfollowed Nick, with friends confirming she’d dumped him.
“She was embarrassed and devastated,” confirms another female tennis player, who says she tore strips off Nick over the “unfortunate” incident.
What followed was an epic comeback from heartbroken Nick, who realised how empty his life was without Ajla and showered her with romantic gifts and promises to prove he was worthy of a second chance.
“Nick would have done anything to make it up to Ajla,” reveals one mate, who says the tennis star hit rock bottom after the bust-up in July and had friends and family very concerned about his mental state over his broken heart.
“Everyone was thrilled when Ajla let Nick back in – she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him. Her support and love is invaluable to him. The circuit
can be a really lonely place and he’s a better player and a better person when she’s around. I hope they stay together forever.”
Certainly Nick has seemed on top of the world in the past few weeks as he and Ajla spent every spare moment together, sharing laughs when practising together in Brisbane, and happily sharing his love with the world.
The crowd at the Australian Open erupted with wolf-whistles, laughter and cheers when a smirking Nick revealed he’d had a good week because, “I had my girlfriend in the room,” cheekily crediting her with his improvement on the court.
PERFECT MATCH
Nick has spent months wooing Ajla back, kissing and cuddling her before the Luxembourg Open in October before flying to Hawaii to be by her side at a women’s tournament in November.
And with Ajla now competing for Australia instead of Croatia, friends say it’s only a matter of time before Nick proposes to the beautiful woman who has helped turn his fortunes around.
“They’re rock solid,” says one mate, who is tipping Nick may propose to Ajla when she celebrates her 25th birthday in May.
“He doesn’t ever want to lose her again because she gets him. They’re pretty much a perfect match and he’s ready to settle down.”
