‘Hey Rusty, she’s mine!’ Keith stakes his claim

Keith is seeing red after the actor speaks out about his love for Nicole

-

He’s known for his good nature, but when it comes to love, country crooner Keith Urban is more than willing to put on his boxing gloves to protect his corner. The 50-year-old father-of-two is fuming over Russell Crowe’s “infatuation” with his wife Nicole Kidman. Last week Woman’s Day reported on the close bond Rusty, 54, and Nic formed while shooting their latest movie, Boy Erased, with the Gladiator great gushing about his love for Nic in press interviews. In one confession, the Kiwi-born Oscar winner even said he’d always fantasised about being married to Nicole, while praising her “compelling” personality and “seamless” acting. Now, it appears his confessions have stirred an angry reaction from Keith, who’s feeling uneasy about seeing another man drooling over his wife of 12 years.

“Keith’s a mellow, patient guy and he’s happy for Nic and Russell to be friends, but some of the comments Russell’s been making have been way over the top,” a close insider tells Woman’s Day.

“In Keith’s mind there’s a line that can be crossed and he’d appreciate it if Russell toned things down a notch or two.”

While Nicole’s been a doting wife to Keith, she’s been nothing but positive in her comments about her old friend Russell.

“Nicole is bubbly and gracious around her co-stars, and Keith wouldn’t change that in a million years,” a source says.

“He knows he’s the luckiest man on earth to be married to Nicole and dad to their two children. He trusts Russell’s a gentleman and knows he’d never do anything untoward with Nic – or any married woman for that matter. But he’s got a protective streak and wants him to cool it with the public declarations of love.”
