And after resigning as co-host of afternoon show The Daily Edition late last year, the father-of-two, 48, has landed the role of a lifetime – at least in the eyes of his two daughters, Storm, five, and Sloane, three. Tom is the latest ambassador for Disney On Ice – a job he tells
Woman’s Day has his entire family very, very excited.
What did you love most about working on TV, and what do you miss about it?
I love the dynamic of TV and especially live TV. I got to travel the world, go to the biggest sporting events around the globe and see so much of Australia. Competing on and winning Dancing With The Stars season two will also always be a highlight.
Are you still in contact with your former The Daily Edition co-host Sally Obermeder?
Of course! Sally and I have caught up at charity functions, and she popped into my office the other day. She will always be the most professional, kind, courteous c and caring person p I’ve ever met. She’s S a shining example of o how it doesn’t take ta much to make someone’s s day, to show guests g you care and that t you’re genuinely interested. i We will forever f be close. If I ever get g another chance to work w in TV, I don’t think the TV gods could bestow me with someone as gorgeous and lovely as Sal.
How did your two daughters react to the news that you’d be an official ambassador for
Disney On Ice? Are you Dad Of The Year now?
Oh, they completely lost it! My role with Disney is certainly the biggest talking point in the household, especially now the shows are so close. They know Daddy is friends with Mickey and we’re all going to the show. We’ve even been out practising skating and learning all the words to the songs in Moana and Frozen. Dad just scored big-time because of my new famous friends!
What can families expect from the show? What are some of the biggest highlights?
