Nathan & Tori are all set to wed!
He may not have made it up the warped wall, but Nathan Ryles has still followed through on his promise to propose to girlfriend Tori Stevens – and now Woman’s Day can exclusively reveal the lovebirds are getting married!
The South Australian fitness expert, 26, who famously promised to propose to Tori, 25, if he made it up the wall on
Australian A Ninja Warrior, a admits he was gutted w when his attempts were rep repeatedly unsuccessful.
“I was absolutely devastated,” says Nathan.
“I felt like it was something so stupid that I fell on [in that final round] and it played in my head for so long afterwards.”
Nathan was so sure he’d make it, he hadn’t even considered a Plan B for popping the question to Tori.
“It was super frustrating,” he says. “I didn’t have any plans after that, because I was so confident I was going to be able to do it on the show.
“I was like, ‘What do I do now?’” Not one to give up, Nathan soon found the perfect do-over, proposing to his girlfriend of two years in front of her friends during a special dinner for her birthday – when she learnt of his initial proposal plan.
“I had no idea,” she laughs. “I don’t know how he hid it!” Nathan admits it was hard. “The first time I had the ring, I didn’t know whether you could take it through the baggage collection, or if it would beep,” he admits. “I was like, ‘ You are not allowed to come to the airport with me,’ and she was like, ‘What do you mean I can’t come in?’”
Nathan told Tori she’d have to wait elsewhere while he checked in.
“I was so offended!” she says. The couple admit they have no immediate plans to wed, but is there a chance it could happen next year, on top of Ninja Warrior’s Mount Midoriyama?
“Ha! I’d have to climb up a different way,” Tori laughs.
