Friends boys in crisis
Th The one-titime bibig TV stars are a shadow of their former selves
They were once the leading men of one of the most popular television shows in the world, but looking at Friends trio Matt Leblanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry, you’d never have known it.
Gone are the boyish good looks that made them household names in the ’90s, with the actors looking dishevelled and bloated.
“It’s so sad to see them like this. If you walked past them you would never think, ‘There goes Chandler, Joey and Ross’,” an insider tells Woman’s Day.
“It’s as if they’ve given up on themselves. They look terrible and can’t be feeling too good, either.”
Despite their whopping $1.4 million an
episode pay cheques while on the show and reports they’re still raking in an annual $28 million salary each from reruns, the men don’t appear to have invested their money in their health.
Matthew’s long-standing battles with alcohol and prescription drug addictions have been well documented, and last year the 49-year-old had abdominal surgery g y to repair a gastrointestinal perforation and was hospitalised for three months.
Meanwhile, Matt, 52, has been steadily piling on the kilos and 52-year-old David – who has admitted suffering from depression in the past – certainly doesn’t look to be living the London high life. Their appearances are in stark contrast to the women they shared the screen with for 10 years.
As well as looking incredible, Jennifer Aniston, 50, Courteney Cox, 55, and Lisa Kudrow, 56, have flourishing careers, while their down-and-out former male colleagues are only fuelling rumours that a muchtalked about Friends reboot is unlikely to happen.
“The women must look at their co-stars and wonder what happened,” says the source. “With the guys looking the way they do at the minute, there’s no chance a Friends reunion will get off the ground.”
