Bindi is head over heels, but mum Terri wants s to protect her daughter – and their fortune
She’s blissfully in love, but Bindi Irwin’s engagement joy could be overshadowed by a brewing money battle with her mother Terri.
Sources say the wildlife heiress, who’s worth around $5 million in her own right, is opposed to signing a pre-nup before marrying fiance Chandler Powell.
That’s set off alarm bells with Terri, who’s said to be concerned about potentially jeopardising the family’s $100 million fortune.
“The last thing they want is to be butting heads during such a happy time for the whole family,’ an insider tells Woman’s Day.
“Everyone adores Chandler, and there’s little doubt in anyone’s y minds that he and
Bindi have what it takes to last the distance. But at the end of the day Terri’s a realist, and she knows that in this day and age it’s important for people to protect themselves.
“But Bindi is quite the traditionalist and she trusts with her entire heart and soul that she and Chandler will be together forever. It’s led to some tense scenes, because neither of them are backing g down – and poor Chandler’s ’s stuck in the middle!”
Bindi’s late dad, beloved Crocodile Hunter Steve teve Irwin, left behind around $15 million when he died in 2006 after being fatally speared in the chest by a stingray off the coast of Queensland.
Since his death, Terri, 55, has gone on to take the family brand to a whole new level.
In addition to running Australia Zoo, she’s masterminded numerous money-making ventures that have seen Bindi and her younger brother Robert, 15, become famous the world over.
Bindi, 21, had her own TV show, Bindi The Jungle Girl and landed the top prize on the US version of Dancing g With the Stars. The family have also raked in lucrative pay cheques for their wildlife show Crikey!

Though Chandler, 22, had forged a highly successful career in wakeboarding, he’s worth a comparatively meagre $750,000.
“You can’t really blame Terri for adopting this stance, since Bindi and Robert stand to inherit everything,” says the insider.
“Thankfully Chandler’s a very even-keeled guy who’s bound to go along with whatever Bindi and Terri deem appropriate.
“It’s just a shame they have to get g past p this awkwardness first.”
