Chances are it’s been a few years (and some!) since you’ve been on a mini-trampoline, but it’s time to jump back on one – quite literally.

Rebounding – trampolinebased exercise – is the latest fitness craze taking over Hollywood and it’s making its way to our shores, too...

WHAT IS IT?

It might sound like something fro from a game of basketball, bu but rebounding is an aerobic exe exercise performed by jumping an and/or stepping, fast or slow, on a mini-trampoline.

I It’s currently growing in po popularity for its effectiveness an and gentleness on joints.

U Using a good quality tra trampoline (rebounder) can tak take away up to 90 per cent of the impact to your bones tha that can come from exercising onn on a hard surface.

If you have any pre-existing m medical conditions, check w with your GP before you start.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFIT S?

Rebounding not only brings out your inner child (fun!), but has amazing mind and body benefits, too.

“It increases aerobic endurance and improves

ebalance and coordination,” says Magdalena Rudzka, co-founder of Sydney-based rebounding studio TrampoLine. “Studies have shown the vertical up-and-down motion can also help the lymphatic system to drain toxins from the body, improve mental clarity and boost immunity.”

It also helps build up strength in your pelvic floor, according to structural integration and alignment specialist Lauren Roxburgh.

“Rebounding had a very positive impact on rebuilding healthy tone in my pelvic floor and core after I had babies,” Lauren pens on Gwyneth Paltrow’s goop.com. “Many of my clients have had similar results – activating and toning the pelvic floor muscles with 15 to 20 minutes of bouncing a day… Check with your doctor first if you have any serious pelvic floor issues.”

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU BOUNCE?

As mentioned, 15 to 20 minutes on the mini-tramp a day has its benefits, but depending on your fitness levels, you can opt for longer classes. For example, Magdalena’s classes (trampo-line.com.au) run for 50 minutes and can burn up to 1200 calories.
