Tension between Yellow Wiggle Emma Watkins and Purple Wiggle Lachlan Gillespie flared up last week when Emma had a subtle dig at her ex-husband when she announced to the world that she’s also found love again – with the band’s guitar player!
“Oliver [Brian] is the very opposite to me. He’s a very calm and thoughtful person and I’ve always been interested in his mind and his take on life, and his morals,” gushed 30-year-old Emma, who says the couple fell in love after forming a close friendship from spending years on the road together.
“He loves talking about the environment and food production. It’s not very ‘Wiggly’, but it’s been nice for me to talk about things not just concerning ourselves, but people everywhere around the world.”
The announcement leaves very little wriggle room for Emma and Lachy, who not only have to put on a happy face for their millions of young fans, but also live in each other’s pockets and, with their new partners, spend hours together every day.
“It’s not perfect,” insists one insider, who says there are days when tensions reach breaking point. “There are a lot of different personalities, and there’s a lot of juggling to try and give each couple some space.”

Emma’s news followed confirmation that Lachlan, 34, has been dating ballet star and Wiggles dancer Dana Stephensen for months, with the Yellow Wiggle going to great lengths to give her public approval of Lachy’s new love.
She even regularly posts selfies with Dana on her Instagram page.
Lachy also seems to share a close bond with Oliver with the pair performing together in folk rock band The Unusual Commoners.
Emma and Lachlan began dating just weeks after joining The Wiggles in 2013. They married in 2016 but announced their split just two years later, saying the pressure of touring and living together had taken its toll.
