The royal couple’s relationship is going from bad to worse
It’s safe to say 2019 has not been Princess Mary and Prince Frederik’s bebest year together – especiaespecially since they’ve spent so mucmuch time apart.
As several reports out of tthe Danish press suggest the roroyal pair’s marriage is strugglingstruggling, new pictures have emerged of a tense moment between the pair in the streets of Copenhagen, where it seemseems they could no longer hide ththe strain between them, despidespite being in full view of the pubpublic and photographers.
Onlookers tell Woman’s Dday that after a brief and none ttoo friendly conversation, an exasperated Fred, 51, pickepicked up a large bag and stormed off, leaving Mary “looking devastated” in his wake.
“It looked to be an overniovernight bag,” says an onlooker.
“It doesn’t bode well for Mary, given there have been a lot of rumours in Denmark that they’re spending nights apart. The word going around is that she stays in the palace with the children, and he has some kind of bachelor pad close by that he runs off to when things are getting unbearable between them.”
The unsettling scene comes just weeks after Mary, 47, was seen without her wedding ring, being comforted by her 14-year-old son Prince Christian. At the time, our sources explained that Mary and her husband of 15 years were considering a trial separation after months of tension behind Amalienborg Palace walls.
WORLD OF CHANGE
It’s been widely reported that Mary is even moving temporarily to Switzerland for three months to help her four children settle in to their new international school.
“Mary’s whole world is changing as she knows it,” says a source. “She is shouldering an awful lot of pressure taking on royal engagements from her ageing mother-in-law [Queen Margrethe], and Fred is often not around to help share the load.
“This has been an ongoing problem since they got together. He’s always been far more focused on his recreational pursuits while she kept the home fires burning, but that has never been more apparent than right now, when she needs him the most.
“Mary’s a strong woman, but she’s no longer able to hide the problems going on between her and Fred.”

The marital woes couldn’t have come at a worse time for hardworking Mary.
“Preparing for Christmas must come with a lot of sadness this year for her,” says an insider.
“She wanted to come back to Australia with the kids, but her schedule wouldn’t allow it. Now she’s stuck, thousands of miles from home with a husband who’s like a ship in the night.”
