GEORGE & AMAL SEPARATE LIVES

Friends fear for the A-list couple who haven’t been seen together for months

-

It’s no secret that George and Amal Clooney’s marriage e has been struggling, g, but now friends fear things could have takenen a serious turn for the worse orse with Amal reportedly begging 58-year-old George too get couple’s counselling inn a bid to save their relationship.

According to a Woman’s Day insider, the major cause of tension is George’s hectic filming schedule, which Amal feels takes priority in their relationship.

FIERY SHOWDOWN

“George and Amal have barely seen each other over the past three months following their bitter showdown on their fifth wedding anniversary back in September in New York,” tells our insider. “Amal was furious with George after signing to do Good Morning, Midnight, which would see him film in London and Iceland for three months, despite her telling him she’s getting frustrated with his hectic schedule and constantly being left alone with the twins.

“On top of that she also couldn’t believe George invited Rande [Gerber] and Cindy [Crawford] to what was supposed to be a romantic anniversary dinner. Amal has always felt like a third wheel when it comes to George’s friendship with Cindy, who she thinks he constantly flirts with.”

‘It’s as if he’s emotionally checked out and has shut down on her’

With George now based overseas and Amal, 41, in New York, friends say the gap in their fractured romance is becoming ever wider as they struggle to find ways to communicate without arguing.

“Amal’s mother has moved to New York and has been temporarily living with her [and her twins] Ella and Alexander, and apart from a few texts here and there about the children, they’ve not spoken to each other properly in weeks.”

According to our source, even when George does jet into New York to see the kids things are strained, and Amal is finding it difficult to be in the same room as him.

“Amal’s told pals how it’s as if he’s emotionally checked out of the marriage and has completely shut down on her,” says the source.

“They’ve always been such a great team, and Amal can’t bear to see their marriage crumbling and has begged him to see a couple’s therapist. But so far he’s refused and says he sees it as ‘pointless’, given they can barely be in the same room as one another right now.

“The last thing Amal wanted was to be a single mum to two toddlers living alone so far away from her loved ones, but she says that right now she’d rather be alone than stuck in a miserable marriage fighting what she’s described as an uphill battle.”
