“The only time it ever gets awkward is when the kids are going crazy and somebody wants a photo,” he says laughing. On top of the 13th season, 2020 has brought with it a new role for the superstar gardener. The father-of-two was announced as Better Homes

To his two children Leo and Hartford, awardwinning landscaper Charlie Albone is undoubtedly the best dad and gardening buddy ever.

But most Australians will agree that gardening guru Charlie is certified TV royalty, thanks to his stint on Selling Houses Australia alongside interior designer Shaynna Blaze and property expert Andrew Winter.

This week the smash-hit local production is back for its 13th season, and nobody is more grateful for its longlasting success than Charlie!

“The love that we get from the people who watch the show, it’s fantastic! We’ve done it for 13 seasons and I just never once considered it would be going for so long,” admits a humble Charlie.

“The fans and viewers are so lovely – they’re always coming up to me and saying nice things about the show.

“It’s sort of unusual for a TV show to have such a dedicated fan base for that amount of time – it’s truly very heartwarming.

‘When we're with the kids, we make sure we're invested'

According to Charlie, the key to finding balance is mindfulness, and with a gig on two of the country’s most beloved lifestyle programs, it’s certainly needed!

“My wife [Juliet] and I try to be as present as we can with the kids. When we’re with them, we make sure we’re invested and when we’re working it’s clear that it’s work time, that way we can be as effective as we can with both things,” he explains.
