Never one to quite master the art of subtlety, pop superstar Cher hasn’t held back when it comes to dissing her longtime rival, Madonna.
In fact, despite both singers enjoying enviable careers and music icon status, the duo have spent the past 30 years slinging mud at each other, and Woman’s Day hears it’s only getting worse!
“Cher has always had it in for Madge! She doesn’t mind slagging her off because she’s never taken her seriously,” explains a Tinseltown insider, claiming that despite the Material Girl’s long list of hits, Cher, 74, thinks Madonna is an embarrassment!
Meanwhile, the 61-year-old Like A Prayer singer is said to be still letting the ’70s icon get under her skin.
“Cher’s still got it and that boils her blood,” says the source. “Madonna’s secretly hoping she’ll just throw in the towel one day soon... she thinks the Cher ship has sailed.”
The ongoing battle between the divas first became public ublic when Cher was promotingng her film Mermaids in 1991.
“[Madonna’s] unbelievably vably creative because she’s not unbelievably talented,” she told a British talk show. “She’s not beautiful, but she’s kind of… she’s creative, but she’s rude.”
However, insiders insist the real tensions between the pair started bubbling over their shared taste in men. Cher apparently failed to understand what Madonna’s ex-husband Sean Penn saw in the songstress, with our insider hinting that Cher might have been jealous.
On the flip side, Madonna na is said to have ruffled Cher’s er’s feathers when she reportedly made a move on Cher’s boyfriend Robert “Bagel Boy” Camilletti in the ’80s.
All these years later, Cher still insists Madonna is “a “b**ch”, and seems to enjoy taunting the star on social media. Just months ago, she told fans Madonna “was a visionary” – back in the ’80s.
As the latest crop of beautiful Bachelor rejects descend onto our screens in Bachelor In Paradise, you’d be forgiven for thinking that they’re all focused on taking another shot at true love.
And while the cast certainly take plenty of shots, a source tells Woman’s Day it wasn’t necessarily at finding romance. “Everyone just hooked up with everyone,” the source says of the cast’s time on the sandy beaches of Fiji. “Compared to previous seasons, it’s pretty wild.”
The source adds that while the genetically blessed cast all loved being in each other’s company, “there was no strong desire to create any meaningful
connections”.
While trailers for the upcoming show – which filmed last year and has been delayed several times due to the pandemic – have teased love stories and even a proposal, the months-long gap between filming and airing could mean that any of the connections that blossomed on the island have since wilted away.
CAST GONE ROGUE
Indeed, this year’s BIP contestants haven’t been shy about teasing other possible romances, uploading Instagram stories of themselves cosying up to a host of new partners, which include past reality TV contestants.
Star Kiera Maguire was spotted kissing Love Island star Matt Zukowski in Melbourne, Timm Hanly was spotted on a loved-up road trip with his ex Briana de la Motte, and Jackson Garlick and Jamie Doran showed no qualms about snuggling up to Bachelor stars Emma Roche and Elly Miles on a boozy night out in Sydney. There were some hopes of a lasting romance when Ciarran Stott and Kiki Morris were spotted walking hand-in-hand on a golfing date in Sydney,
but Ciarran appears to have moved on with none other than former Big Brother star Tully Smyth. The couple were spotted getting hot and heavy in recent weeks.
With the cast going AWOL, producers have been scrambling to take control of their social media accounts, but if recent posts are anything to go by, they’re having little to no luck. Bachelor In Paradise premieres Wednesday, 7.30pm, Ten
