As Brooklyn prepares to wed his American heiress, Posh and Becks are feeling a little inferior
When Brooklyn Beckham dropped to one knee and proposed to his girlfriend Nicola Peltz, their families erupted in celebration.
After all, famously protective of her boy, Victoria has what’s been described to Woman’s Day as a “mother-daughter bond” with her 21-year-old son’s girlfriend of 10 months.
But behind the scenes, sources say Posh is feeling a little inferior as she begins to help plan her son’s wedding with his billionaire in-laws.
Model and actress Nicola’s old-money billionaire family, based in glitzy Palm Beach, Florida, rule the social elite and call President Trump a friend.
David, 45, and Victoria, 46, are worth $640 million – nothing to sneeze at, though insiders have said a string of poor business decisions have put a noticeable dent in that number.
Nicola’s dad, businessman Nelson Peltz, meanwhile, has a ba bank balance of $2.4 billion, and sources say his little girl, 25, has tastes to match.
“Everyone is thrilled about the engagement news but you can just sense there’s going to be an issue h here,” says our source.
“David and Victoria will i insist on putting forward a chunk of cash towards the
weddings – one in London and one in Florida – but costs are already nearing $10 million. Nicola has begged them not to worry, saying her dad has ‘got this’.
“It’s a little humiliating to David and Victoria. They’re also wary about the pre-nup Nelson is organising.
He’s said to be bringing in top lawyers to protect his fortune, which will one day be Nicola’s, and as much as he likes Brooklyn, he feels they’re rushing in too young.
“Victoria is a lioness about her boy and will likely see this as a slight against him.”
FIRST HOME BUYERS
According to our insider, the Beckhams are insisting they contribute handsomely, and if it’s not via wedding costs, instead they’re offering to buy the couple their first house, rumoured to be in LA to help Nicola’s acting ambitions.
“Nicola’s dad likes to have full control over things so it’s expected there will be a clash between the two families,” our source adds. “David and Victoria might be rich and famous, but there’s no denying they are new money, and not in the league of an American tycoon like Nelson.”
Despite all of this going on behind the scenes, outwardly, Brooklyn and the rest of the
Beckham crew, who took to Instagram to congratulate the couple, are celebrating as they prepare for one of the biggest celebrity weddings in years.
Nicola hit the mainstream news cycle in January when it was revealed Brooklyn had been dating her since October, but she was already quietly carving a name for herself in Hollywood.
She appeared in holiday film Deck The Halls, and had parts in Bates Motel, The Last Airbender and Transformers: Age Of Extinction.
She’s dated Justin Bieber, and more recently broke up with Bella and Gigi Hadid’s brother Anwar around the time he was snapped kissing Kendall Jenner.
