HERO PATTI SAVES THE DAY!
With daughter Lauren in hospital, the Aussie icon has stepped up
Family is everything to Patti Newton and that was never more evident than last week when her daughter Lauren revealed she’d been hospitalised.
The 41-year-old offspring of Australian TV royalty Bert and Patti Newton, who is pregnant with her sixth child, opened up about her health struggles on social media, admitting she’s had to lean on her parents – and in particular her mum – recently. Lauren has spent more than a month in hospital due to complications with her pregnancy.
“Missing my gorgeous babies. It’s been 5 weeks so far of not seeing them while I’m in hospital due to pregnancy complications,” she shared in a heartfelt post on social media.
Thankfully, Lauren insisted her concerns for her children, Sam, 11, Eva, nine, Lola, six, Monty, four, and 18-month-old Perla were allayed, knowing they were being cared for by their Olympic swimmer father Matt Welsh, 43, and famous grandparents.
“I miss them so much but Matt and Mum and Dad have done an incredible job,” said Lauren, while doting Patti replied, “The most fabulous children, we miss you so much, our love Nana and Poppy.”
Over the past few weeks the 75-year-old Aussie legend has been spotted taking her grandchildren to the local park and shopping centres around Melbourne.
Lauren, who admits she thought she’d only ever have one child, says having her big family is the best thing that’s ever happened to her and Matt.
“Being parents is just the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to us both,” she says.
And the same goes for her proud parents.
“They wouldn’t realise it at the moment, but they have made this one of the happiest times of my life,” Bert previously said of his grandchildren.

As the 57-year-old actor attempts to clear his name and insists it was his ex-wife Amber Heard – who he met when they co-starred in The Rum Diary in 2009 – who was the abusive spouse, plenty of their A-list colleagues, friends and lovers are getting dragged into the messy and increasingly very sad spat.
The Sun’s key witness, Amber, 34, isn’t holding back from sharing her side of the story, with startling photos and shocking claims flooding the press. As the drama continues, we look at the famous names involved...
