The truth about SOPHIE’S FAMILY FEUD!
The Love Island host has cut ties with her once inseparable family over her whirlwind romance
It was the happy ending she was meant to receive after appearing on The Bachelorette in 2017 – a loving and successful boyfriend, a stellar career in entertainment and a supportive family rallying behind her.
However, tensions within her once tight-knit clan are threatening to derail everything Sophie Monk has worked hard for.
It’s been revealed that Sophie, 40, has fallen out with her family after sensationally blocking both her mother Sandi and sister Lucy on social media over tensions between them and Sophie’s boyfriend Joshua Gross.
According to a source, her family believe the Love Island star may be moving too quickly with her medical supply executive beau.
“He has become a very big presence in Sophie’s life and I think there was some concern that things all happened a bit too fast,” the insider told The Sunday Telegraph.
Sophie met Joshua, 41, on an international flight in 2018 when he was still living in the United States.
The couple embarked on a whirlwind romance, and just months after going public with their relationship, Joshua relocated from Los Angeles to t th the Gold G ld Coast, C t where h h he moved into Sophie’s milliondollar waterfront home, which she shared with her family.
While they all appeared to live happily together, cracks surfaced after it was revealed Sophie had bought a $2.3 million home on the NSW Central Coast.
While coping with the sting of their daughter moving hundreds of kilometres away, Sophie also made the surprise move of putting her Gold Coast home up for rent.
It’s said Sophie has also confided to friends that she wants to become financially independent from her family.
While keeping mum on the reasoning, Sophie admitted to a rift in her family, telling the newspaper that she was working through some issues.
“I love my family more than anything. There is nothing
I wouldn’t ld ’t d do f for th them, [b [but] t] like all families there are disagreements,” she said.
“At the end of the day, family is family and I’m sure everything will work out in time,” she positively added.
LIVING TOGETHER
Sophie has always been vocal about her closeness with her family, so much so that her mum Sandi and father Andrew – who have all lived together since they sold their Gold Coast property in 2016 – have become almost as famous as their star daughter.
‘There was concern that things happened a bit too fast ’
Their close relationship has often been documented on Sophie’s Instagram, with the trio always partaking in hilarious videos and games that have gone viral around the country.
“I don’t want them to ever move out,” Sophie once said.
However, hints of fierce protectiveness surfaced after younger sister Lucy expressed concerns about the former singer appearing on The Bachelorette in 2017.
“That was hard to think – that everyone wouldn’t be talking nicely about her and she’s gone through so much,” Lucy, 38, told the media at the time.
Famously, the entire family went undercover on the show to grill the final four, with Andrew and Lucy both expressing their concern over some of the suitors’ intentions.
While her relationship with Stu Laundy, 47, disintegrated rapidly, the
Monk family still welcomed Joshua into their home under a year later and warmed to him immediately.
“He is a really nice chap, a nice person, very kind and we get on very well,” Andrew said in November 2018.
Yet while he was a main fixture in the family early on, Joshua hasn’t been seen with any of the Monks in many months.
Last year, Sophie tellingly chose to spend Christmas in Mauritius with Joshua.
