With all the pomp and circumstance of her glorious Windsor wedding to Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex’s former men in her life have often been brushed under the carpet.
Indeed, despite the song and dance made about the Queen’s uncle Edward marrying an American divorcee, Wallis Simpson, and the monarch rejecting her sister Princess Margaret’s plea to marry divorced Peter Townsend, it’s barely mentioned that Harry is Meghan’s second husband.
Hollywood producer Trevor Engelson married Meghan when she was a wannabe star in 2011. But soon after, things began to unravel once Meghan scored her job as vixen paralegal Rachel Zane on Suits. The hit TV show filmed in Toronto, Canada, leaving Trevor to commute from his LA home if he wanted to see his wife.
What really happened in their marriage – which ended after just two years when she reportedly mailed her rings back via registered post – has remained largely a mystery as Trevor, 44, has never spoken in detail about his now-royal ex.

Now, an explosive memoir is expected to delve into what went on in her first marriage – and sources say it’s unlikely to be pleasant reading for Harry, 36. Meghan’s estranged half-sibling Samantha, 56, releases her long-teased book, The Diary Of Princess Pushy’s Sister Part 1, next month, and insiders predict that among the outrageous claims will be revelations about Meghan and Trevor.
Samantha has been a vocal critic of Meghan, once accusing her of being a “shallow social climber”.
It’s believed that Samantha and Meghan have not had a close relationship as adults, with Samantha being accused of being bitter and attempting to cash in on Meghan’s fame.
Our source says Samantha plans to back up her stinging claims by revealing how her sister “used” Trevor as a rung on her ladder to the top of Hollywood society, and once she got her big break on Suits she “discarded him as old news”.
The insider adds, “Meghan liked to make out like they had grown apart because of distance, but in reality she slowly erased him from her exciting new life in Canada where she was getting access to movers and shakers she could only have dreamed of.”
Meanwhile, Trevor’s uncle Mickey-miles Felton claims Meghan’s version of events – that his nephew liked to feel as though she was “dependent” on him – is “trash”.
“Trevor is too good of a person to have these kind of thoughts,” he told the Daily Mail. “It’s an absurd notion.”
Samantha’s book is also tipped to address Meghan’s widely reported “husbandhunting trips” to London after her divorce, where she told journalists and socialites she was looking for a British celebrity man.
“Harry dismissed a lot of these stories as tabloid lies, but you can’t deny it all happened as was reported – Meghan got her rich, well-connected friends to set her up with a prince,” says our source.
“It’s going to be harder for Harry to ignore these reports when a book by Meghan’s own sister comes out describing what she’s really like.”
Bizarrely, Sam says she never intended to “attack” Meghan, but wrote the book hoping that people would learn from it.
