Post divorce, Simon’s humble life in the UK is a world away from her Hollywood riches
Adele’s former husband may well have just landed a multimilliondollar divorce windfall, but his life is far from glamorous and totally removed from that of his famous ex.
After spending years in the shadow of one of the world’s most popular and wealthy musicians in Los Angeles, Woman’s Day can reveal Simon Konecki now has a new, much more humble life in the UK.
While Adele, 32, resides in a $12.5 million mansion that boasts neighbours like Katy Perry, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis and Cameron Diaz, her ex Simon, 46, spends his days in the working class seaside town of Portslade, just a few kilometres from Brighton.
It’s home to the water charity Drop4drop, which he set up in 2006. The group provides clean water supplies to Third World countries, and the dingy offices situated on an industrial estate couldn’t be more different from Adele’s Hollywood existence.
For Simon, whose marriage to the Oscar-winning singer officially ended just last month, there’s no famous neighbours in sight. Instead, he’s surrounded by car mechanics, steelworks and food vans offering up English fry-ups of bacon, eggs and beans.
But according to reports, Simon prefers the low-key lifestyle, with one source saying, “Simon always seemed to do his own thing while Adele was spending time with [their eightyear-old son] Angelo in LA.”
Away from his dreary office, Simon lives in a flat in the nearby town of Hove, where the exterior of the historic 19th century building is run-down and badly needs a makeover.
SLOW DIVORCE
The title deeds show he bought the four-bedroom property for $1.4 million in September 2017, not long after his then-wife bought her lavish mansion in Beverly Hills.
Although the pair announced their split in April 2019, the divorce proceedings have been a slow process as they called in mediators to split their $250 million fortune.
But it’s not like Simon needed a handout from his wife’s illustrious career. Born from rich stock, he went to Eton College in England and went
on to become an investment banker, before “retiring” to start his charity.
Across the pond, his ex Adele continues to enjoy the yearround sunshine in California. While the Hello singer still owns property in her native England, she and her young son have called swanky Beverly Hills their home in recent years, where she spends time with good pals – and neighbours – Jennifer Lawrence and Nicole Richie.
A friend tells People, “She was ready for some sunshine and has made close friends in LA.”
Adele bought her first mansion in the area in 2016, purchasing another massive estate for almost $14 million just a stone’s throw away after she split from Simon. And despite living among the rich and famous, the private star is enjoying her relative anonymity in LA.
“Very few people recognise her and she gets very little attention,” says a source. “She seems to love that.”
While it’s believed the former couple share joint custody of Angelo, Simon also has a daughter with stylist Clary Fisher, his partner before Adele, who lives close to him in the UK.
