‘STAY AWAY FROM GEORGE!’

Amal is on husband watch as George heads to Bali with Julia

-

George Clooney is beside himself with excitement over getting a new romcom with his old mate Julia Roberts green-lit – and best of all for the extremely close friends, they’re expected to travel to exotic Bali for filming.

Not so happy about Hollywood’s breaking casting news for the project, titled Ticket To Paradise, however, is George’s long-suffering wife Amal Clooney, who has found herself uninvited to the shoot, according to sources.

“George doesn’t want Amal to come along because he doesn’t want his wife and kids travelling in a global pandemic, which is barely under control in Indonesia,” says a source. “But Amal suspects there might be more than just fatherly concern to this decision of his.”

The problem, says our insider, is that 43-year-old human rights lawyer Amal has always kept a suspicious eye on Julia, 53, and has never felt comfortable with how pally she is with George, 59.

GOOD BUDDIES

“Whenever there’s marriage trouble between her and George, he runs off to see Julia – and vice versa,” says a source. “He jokes that ‘Jules’ is his shoulder to cry on. Amal also finds it interesting that this casting has come at a time when everyone’s whispering about Julia’s own marriage to Danny Moder being on the rocks.

“Not only is she now attached to this Bali thing with George, she’s headed to Australia to film with another male friend, Sean Penn. She’s not exactly showing the world all’s well with Danny.”

Insiders say Amal is weighing up her options over what she calls the “George and Julia conundrum” as they team up for the fifth time, following roles in the Ocean’s Eleven films, Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind and Money Monster.

PANDEMIC SAFETY

“Amal doesn’t want to be that wife who turns up unexpectedly on set to make sure there’s no funny business going on,” says a source. “Plus of course George is right – it would be silly to travel amid the pandemic unless it was absolutely necessary.

“Instead, she’s thinking of inviting Julia and Danny over to dinner before their trip begins. She wants to see if things are still OK between the couple, and if necessary, she will have a quiet word in Julia’s ear about how she expects her not to blur the line of friendly colleagues into anything more while they’re in the tropics.

“It’s a warning for Julia to keep her hands off Amal’s man, though Amal is way too classy to word it like that. She can’t be too forceful because in the likely event Julia tells George about it, she doesn’t want to risk the ire of her husband for meddling in his career.”

Making matters worse is Amal – who will remain in either their LA or London homes with twins Alex and Ella, three – fears she’s missing a critical time in her life that should be spent with her husband.

“George turns 60 in a couple of months, and she’s not getting any younger, either. She was hoping 2021 could be spent rolling the dice on trying for one more child,” says the source. “But with George away, the chances become slim.”
