COMING HOME FOR KATE

Nothing, not even a new business, will stand in the way of him reuniting with his sister-in-law

Long before Prince Harry married Duchess Meghan, he and the Princess of Wales had a friendship admired by most. However, when the Sussexes ed London for Montecito in 2020, that closeness was put on ice, with reports indicating Kate and Harry now barely make contact.

Fast forward four years and sources con rm to Woman’s Day that the past few months of chaos engul ng the Firm has prompted Harry, 39, to seriously contemplate a semi-permanent move home to be close to ailing father King Charles and o er support to his embattled sister-in-law. “e truth is, Harry is really concerned about Kate and despite them growing apart, he can’t bear that she’s going through such a horri c time,” says one sleuth. “He does carry an enormous amount of guilt over his treatment of Kate in his book, and he knows she was one of his closest friends and allies for some of his most formative years,” they add.

Amid the drama surrounding Kate and Wills, sources say the Duke of Sussex “knows rst-hand” the damage that can be caused by online trolling and incompetent publicity teams and sources con rm “there is no way he’ll stand by and watch his sister-in-law su er any more”.

UNRELENTING SPECULATION

Unfortunately for Kate, 42, who was recently spotted at the Windsor Farm Shop, no number of sightings or statements have been able to squash weeks of relentless internet conspiracies or give comfort to royal watchers that she is in fact safe and sound with her family.

As Woman’s Day went to press last week, the hysteria surrounding Kate’s public break reached fever pitch when the London Clinic, where Kate underwent treatment, announced it was launching an investigation after at least one employee attempted to gain access to the princess’ private medical records.

It’s a moment sources say has led to Harry realising he needs to be in the UK to support his family. “He knows he needs to urgently get home and spend a prolonged amount of time with his family – things are truly out of hand,” says a close friend, who confesses the prince has an “ultimate goal” of moving home with the kids and Meghan.

‘He knows he needs to urgently get home and spend time there’

However, the duchess, 42, has made no secret of her reluctance to return to the UK and the situation has become “extremely fractious” at their Montecito mansion.

“Harry has stressed the severity of the situation, but Megan is simply not interested, not now,” says an insider, who maintains the duchess’ priorities lie entirely on the launch of her new lifestyle brand,

American Riviera Orchard. e brand promises to sell home goods, kitchen lines and jams, and is said to be Meghan’s last opportunity to cement herself in the US. Insiders assert Meghan “just isn’t going to jeopardise this business venture” by relocating to the UK.

“She wants to remain focused on her relaunch,” the source says, noting that some of the Sussexes’ most intense disagreements have been born from conversations about Harry wanting his family to spend time in the UK.

“is time, he’ll leave Meghan and travel without her, but he wants the kids around Kate… it wasn’t that long ago she was one of his closest and most trusted friends,” says a pal, who adds that the biggest sticking point for Harry is now the fact his children barely know their aunt or how beloved she was to Harry.

“is time he’s backing himself, he won’t let Meghan interfere with an important trip like this, not because of business and not because of issues in the past. His family needs him,” the source adds.
