KING’S SECRET AUDITIONS FOR #ROYALSQUAD!

With his slimmed-down monarchy dwindling by the minute, the King’s doing his best to recruit from within the House of Windsor

PRINCESS BEATRICE

Beatrice, 35, has “impressed” both the King and Prince William with how she’s stepped up in the wake of the health issues in the palace, according to OK! magazine. Sources say it’s “only a matter of time” before she will be recruited formally to the royal roster, as seen by the increase in her responsibilities at home and overseas. “Charles is thrilled with how Beatrice has taken on her Counsellor of State role,” says an insider. “It’s clear she’s taking this opportunity very seriously. She’s under no illusions about the damage her father’s interview did, but all that aside, Beatrice has been nothing but an asset to the royal family. Both Charles and William want her on the roster as soon as possible.”

MIKE TINDALL

While the King is hoping to make Zara a princess, he’s not forgotten her husband, former rugby union great Mike, 45 – in fact, he wants to make him an earl! “Zara’s father turned down an earldom from the Queen many years ago,” says an insider. “So it’s kind of ‘owed’ to the family. Zara may not be so enchanted by titles, but there’s no predicting how Mike might react to becoming an earl. Charles sees Mike becoming a huge patron of sports, plus he and Zara love to travel to places like Australia and can take on a huge chunk of commitments that would normally be covered by the Prince and Princess of Wales.”

LADY LOUISE WINDSOR

Also appearing at the Royal Windsor Horse Show was another of the King’s nieces, Lady Louise Windsor, 20, who continues to earn fans worldwide for her equestrian skills and her ladylike reputation. “Lou became everyone’s darling the day she was born,” says an insider. “Remember poor Sophie’s terrifying ectopic pregnancy ordeal? Louise was always super precious to the Queen. Charles thinks she’s going to be the next sporting champion in the family, and he couldn’t be more proud of how she’s carried herself. He sees Louise as a true asset to the roster and believes she could become one of their most popular royals.”

PRINCESS EUGENIE

King Charles has not given up hope that Eugenie, 34, will rejoin the roster one day, despite friends saying she’s “way too happy” in Portugal with her boys. “Eugenie’s very different from her sister,” says an insider. “She was trying to run away from the horrific claims about her father Prince Andrew when her mum [Sarah Ferguson] got seriously sick with cancer. She’s incredibly disillusioned by the whole scene in England right now and loves nothing more than jumping in the pool with her kids in Comporta. It would take a big offer from Charles to lure her back. She and her husband Jack Brooksbank have been doing everything to escape, so they’re unlikely to reverse course now.”
