I’d like to talk to you about your work on the ABM project and how we can make the process even better.

I know last week wasn’t great. I struggled with section 2 of the report, and that led to delays.

Yes, it did. We needed it on Thursday and you didn’t send it until Friday morning. That didn’t leave the leadership team enough time to review it before their meeting later that morning. It was also incomplete and was missing key information. I’m very sorry. It was really difficult to get an appointment to interview the CEO for section 2 of the report.

What could you do differently next time? Well, I could start working on section 3 before I’ve finished section 2.

Yes, that’s a good idea. You’re doing well in your job, though you could be even better if you started thinking ahead like this. Don’t let delays at one stage hold up the preparation for the next stage.
