All Change

What a week that was! As fast as the guards were changing at Buckingham Palace – the politicians were changing at 10 Downing Street. Last Monday, we were all wondering who would take David Cameron’s place and become the 76th prime minister of Great Britain. The choice was between Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom. The prime minister-inwaiting made a very clear speech, assuring the British people of strong leadership through difficult times. She promised to negotiate the best deal for Britain in leaving the EU and to make sure that the whole country helped everyone – not just the "privileged few". Even though she voted to remain in the EU, she strongly reminded us that "Brexit means Brexit, and we are going to make a success of it."

Mr and Mrs May live in the quaint village of Sonning-on-Thames, in Berkshire, which is already inundated with tourists as her neighbours include none other than George and Amal Clooney and Jimmy Page, the Led Zeppelin guitarist. She is a vicar’s daughter who could not have any children of her own. She recently said: "You accept the hand that life deals you."

Last Wednesday, the outgoing prime
