Disco never dies!

-

ADVANCED US

Play the enormously popular 1978 disco song “Y.M.C.A.” by Village People at any party and everyone will sing along while spelling out the letters Y.M.C.A. with their arms. The US Library of Congress added it to its National Recording Registry this year. The registry identifies 25 sound recordings a year that are culturally, historically, or aesthetically important. The library said that “‘Y.M.C.A.’ was a hit around the world, going to No. 1 in the charts in over 15 countries,” and that its popularity to this day shows that “disco has never truly died.”
