"We are pleased to continue our long standing relationship with Azerbaijan Airlines," Deepak Sharma, Technical Director of AJW Group, said.
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has selected UK A J Walter Aviation (AJW) and British Airways Engineering for providing power-by-thehour component support for its new fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft which will commence flight operations in 2014. AJW and British Airways Engineering will provide extensive component supply, inventory management and repair services.
Azerbaijan Airlines has an order to purchase two Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The cost of each is $90 million. The country will be the first in Central Asia to receive these aircraft.
AZAL, the biggest Azerbaijani airline and national flag carrier, offers passenger flights to countries in Europe, the CIS, Middle East and Asia. After purchasing new Boeing aircraft for long-haul flights in 2014, the airline plans to open regular flights to destinations in North America and South-East Asia.
It cooperates with about 60 airlines to provide its passengers with the opportunity to travel freely around the world.
AZAL was certified by IATA Operational Safety Audit, a program that is an internationally recognized evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.
