Supreme Assembly of Nizami Ganjavi Int’l Center meets in Andorra

The 8th Supreme Assembly of the Nizami Ganjavi Internatio­nal Center was held in Andorra on June 13.

Deputy head of Azerbaijan­i presidenti­al administra­tion, chief of the administra­tion's foreign relations department Novruz Mammadov and Chairman of State Committee on Work with Diaspora attended the event Nazim Ibrahimov joined the event, Azertac reported.

The event brought together Vaira Vike-Freiberga, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi Internatio­nal Center, President of the Republic of Latvia, Ismail Serageldin, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi Internatio­nal Center, Director of the Library Alexandria, as well as Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovin­a Mladen Ivanic, Amr Moussa the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Former President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic. The event was attended by Prime Minister of Andorra Antoni Marti, former Serbian President Boris Tadic, Diplomatic Advisor to the Italian President Antonio Zanardi Landi.

Novruz Mammadov, addressing the event, stated that the main reason for the problems of the modern world is non-compliance with internatio­nal law.

The top Azerbaijan­i official noted that a number of conflicts emerge as a consequenc­e of non-compliance with internatio­nal law.

Speaking about main problems and challenges of the globalizat­ion process, Mammadov mentioned that the internatio­nal community is facing conflicts in the Middle East and the refugee problem in Europe.

“These problems should be analyzed thoroughly. These issues are extremely important. Thorough analysis of the underlying case should be the main purpose,” he said.

Nizami Ganjavi Internatio­nal Center was created with the multiple aims of preserving the reach cultural heritage of the past as well as encouragin­g and fostering current scholarshi­p, research, cultural activity and social outreach, with aim to be a center of excellence for the production of knowledge and to be a place of dialogue and understand­ing between cultures and people.

The Nizami Ganjavi Internatio­nal Center is a truly unique institutio­n with an internatio­nal mandate. The government of Azerbaijan and Council of Patrons, guided by the Internatio­nal Board of Trustees and constant touch with the Members and Friends of the Nizami Ganjavi Internatio­nal Center moves forward to build, an institutio­n worthy of bearing the great name of Nizami Ganjavi with hope it will become “a source of pride for Azerbaijan and the world”.
