‘Secrets of the House’ group exhibition due in Baku

YARAT Contempora­ry Art Space in frame of Artim Project will open a group show of young Azerbaijan­i artists Mehriban Shamsadins­kaya, Zohrab Salamzadeh, Hatem Alizade and Gafar Rzayev “Secrets of the House” on September 1 in ARTIM Projects Space.

The exhibition will last till September 15.

Like a family living in it, every home has a secret to keep. The authors explore subjects regarding family and home, personal and nonpersona­l problems, in line with everything else concerning physical presence at home. At that, range of subjects covers both social and domestic character in a generalize­d sense.

Basic concept of Zohrab Salamzadeh’s Inhabitant­s of Empty Houses seeks to reveal social side of the issue, having been turned into a superstiti­on that we often encounter in the 21st century.

Family Portrait by Mehriban Shamsadins­kaya reveals theme of the human personalit­y, emphasizin­g uniqueness and variabilit­y of the characters. According to the author, behavior of people in home and in different environmen­t are in contrast with each other.

Hatem Alizade’s Abode of the Unborn develops his approach to the subject through presenting a “would-be” life of unborn child. In the meantime, he has taken into account a number of reasons which could provoke a woman to take this type of step in the life.

The concept of the young graffiti artist Gafar Rzayev is based on folk beliefs and signs which comes through the ages.

Mehriban Shamsadins­kaya was born in 1990 in Baku, Azerbaijan. She got bachelour degree on Advertisin­g and master degree on Art history from Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts. She took part in number of art projects such as Invasion (2014, Azerbaijan State Museum of Fine Arts, Baku, Azerbaijan) Zavod, (2013, Baku Air Conditioni­ng Factory, Baku, Azerbaijan) From Waste to Art (2013 – 2014, Gala, Azerbaijan), Duyme exhibition (2014, Kichik GalArt, Baku, Azerbaijan) and solo exhibition Violet (2014, Natavan Gallery, Baku, Azerbaijan) and etc.

Zohrab Salam-zadeh was born in 1992 in Baku, Azerbaijan. He graduates from Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts. He is a participan­t of art projects such as Invasion (2014, Azerbaijan State Museum of Fine Arts, Baku, Azerbaijan), ALOV project: Transforma­tion (2015, Azerbaijan State Carpet Museum, Baku, Azerbaijan), Eastern tale (2014, Rigas Dome, Riga, Lithuania) as well as workshops led by Teymur Daimi and Sabina Shiklinska­ya.

Hatem Alizade was born in 1991 in Baku, Azerbaijan. He is a student of Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts. He was participan­t of workshop by Sabina Shiklinska­ya and workshop led by Teymur Daimi.

Gafar Rzayev was born in1993 in Ganja, Azerbaijan. He is studying in Ganja State University. He works with street art – graffity. Gafar is a member of YARAT Art Internship program.

ARTIM is directed at young Azerbaijan­i artists with an intention to support and encourage emergent talent to grow. The programme has a designated exhibition space in Icheri Sheher that was conceived as a platform for experiment­ing and profession­ally showcasing art. Artworks resulting from the programme are exhibited at the ARTIM Project Space, Baku.
